<P align=center><FONT color=#00ffff size=4>卡倫•卡彭特生於1950年，而她的哥哥理查•卡彭特比她大4歲。理查很小的時候就學鍵盤，而卡倫卻選學了打鼓。1963年，兄妹倆和一位朋友合作組成了一支三人樂隊，3年後與RCA唱片公司簽約，後來又變成兄妹雙人組合，理查彈鍵盤，而卡倫則做了主唱。1969年，卡彭特兄妹與A &amp; M唱片公司簽約，以固定的“卡彭特兄妹”（THE CARPENTERS）形式演出和錄音，從此發展順利而揚名於世界，在大約5年的時間裏一直是全世界最受歡迎的流行音樂演唱組合。他們的音樂旋律朗朗上口，基調健康純真，而且還利用了當時很先進的多軌錄音技術，使卡倫的歌聲純美乾淨、魅力十足，成為廣大流行樂迷的心中愛物。 1970年一曲《靠近你》(Close To You)榮登排行榜首，這使卡彭特樂隊一炮走紅，70年代中他們不斷有佳作聞世，成為無數美國青年的偶像，尼克森總統稱卡彭特兄妹是最出色的美國青年。 　　令人婉惜的是卡倫•卡彭特年僅32歲便過早地離去。 她死於神經性厭食症。 這是由於她為了保持身材的苗條，長期服用輕瀉劑，與長期節食的嚴重後果。1983年2月4日她死於深愛她的父母懷中。卡倫•卡彭特嗓音優美，演唱親切自然，略帶傷感，加之他們運用了多軌錄音技術，因此他們的唱片無論在藝術上或技術上都非常成功，是當代流行音樂的精品。 </FONT></P>
