丹尼尔·贝丁菲尔德(Daniel Bedingfield)，1980年出生于澳洲的新西兰，在英国伦敦的东南部长大。受同时代R&B音乐艺人的影响，他与妹妹娜塔莎和尼古拉组建了他们的第一支乐队，乐队取名为DNA Algorhythm，并在当地有了小小的名气。后来，丹尼尔受到利兹一位女友的启发，在自己的卧室突然来了灵感，利用插在家用电脑上的麦克风，录制了歌曲《Gotta Get Thru This》。独立唱片公司Relentless发行了这首歌曲，歌曲发行数周后的2001年12月，《Gotta Get Thru This》一口气奔上英国流行金曲排行榜第一名的位置。从此，年仅21岁的丹尼尔成了当地的音乐名人，未来星途不可限量。
后来，丹尼尔和Polydor(英国)公司签约，创作、录制了几首新歌，并于2002年秋发行了首张专辑《Gotta Get Thru This》。2005年，被称为创作型才子的丹尼尔的第二张专辑《再一次心动》(Second First Impression)发行。
